Dr. Panagiotis Koudounis is a cardiologist - arrhythmiologist with a special interest in the use of cardiovascular imaging in the diagnosis and treatment (ablation) of complex arrhythmias, and in the implantation and follow up of cardiac devices (pacemakers, defibrillators). He graduated from the University of Ioannina's School of Medicine (2009). He trained in the UK at Guy's and St Thomas' Foundation NHS Trust and in the King's College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, and in Greece, at the Hellenic Red Cross Hospital Korgialeneio – Benakeio.
He obtained the title of Cardiology specialty in 2018. In 2019 he specialized in Electrophysiology with a scholarship from the Hellenic Cardiology Society. Until May 2021, he worked as a consultant cardiologist at the Hellenic Red Cross hospital in Korgialenio - Benakeio, while, since June 2021, he is the senior consultant of the Heart and Vascular Center of the Athens Medical Group and the Cardiology Center of Paleo Faliro Medical Center. From 2023 he maintains a private cardiology clinic at 4, Porto Rafti Ave. in Markopoulo. He holds a master's degree from the School of Medicine of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens and also holds the European Diploma in Cardiology.
In 2014 he became a Member of the Royal College of Physicians of the United Kingdom (MRCP) after written and oral examinations. In 2020 he acquired the European certification in implantable cardiac devices (EHRA Cardiac Device Specialist). Furthermore, in 2017 and 2018 he acquired the European certification in (EACVI) Adult Transthoracic Echocardiography and (EACVI) Adult Transoesophageal Echocardiography, respectively.
Since 2015, he has been an instructor at ALS (specialized life support – Hellenic Cardiology Society). He has published in greek and international journals, participated as a speaker in international conferences, while he has participated in the writing of scientific books.
